VP of Engineering

Responsibilities

The Successful VP, Engineering Will Create the Following Results:

  • Deliver value that repeatedly attracts, captivates, engages, expands and empowers our current and future customers to independently source and optimize visual content to improve their brand awareness and performance with minimal effort through our platform. Support us to become the global leader in improving and iterating on content performance for marketers. Build multiple channels to source content, mine performance and creative attribute data and drive insights for marketers.
  • Manage, recruit, hire, onboard, develop, empower and continuously inspire an efficient, practical and effective team of ambitious engineers and IT staff to deliver high performance, next generation, easy to use, measurable customer results in a timely and cost-effective way and support our internal technology needs. Work collaboratively and in support of an executive team and community that is the best in our business, focused on driving the aggressive growth of our customer base while providing the highest value.   • Lead the development of systems and processes to fulfill our technical, operational, product and business goals through thoughtful planning, execution and review to consistently deliver and improve results in a timely and cost-effective way. Manage rhythms of development to achieve consistent goals. Identify and expand opportunities, continuously evolve products and the capabilities of the entire technology team to maximize the productivity of the technology organization while balancing short term and long-term objectives. Expand capacity with demand that is consistent with our financial goals. Make sound data driven timely business and technology decisions. Envision and lead the development of frameworks, libraries and documentation that facilitate rapid development and reuse. Create organic solutions and screen 3rd party products and services that add to our capacity to deliver on our value proposition. Champion engineering and operational excellence that drives scalability. Consistently enhance functionality, usability, and simplicity.
  • Innovate to evolve our platform to achieve specific business results based on our vision, values and objectives. Identify opportunities that add value to our flywheel, driving profitable growth in the use of our platform by customers and content creators. Use technology and intellectual curiosity to solve problems and generate unique insights for our customers and our success. Develop product technology strategies in collaboration with all departments and your executive team mates in leading the business.

Skills & Qualifications

The Right Candidate Will Deploy These Talents:

  • Ability identify and measure the criteria for success in the performance and scalability of engineering solutions (not team size and budget)
  • Comfortable with handling multiple, competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong executive presence; highly influential both externally with partners as well as at the senior leadership level
  • Experience managing teams of 10+ engineers in a dynamic and agile environment
  • Diligent attention to detail and strong technical intuition.
  • Able to partner, collaborate, and manage expectations of the Executive Leadership Team and the Board.
  • Track record of delivering successful products as an engineering manager.
  • Understands priorities and what adds business value.
  • A strong sense of urgency in delivering releases and managing high severity issues by yourself or delegating work to your team.
  • Passionate to scale products into millions of users.
  • Mastery of software development principles including SOLID, software design patterns, and architectural design patterns.
  • Strong knowledge of architecture, trends, and emerging technologies.
  • A deep passion for best practices including CI/CD, TDD, clean code, etc.

Meet Our Minimum Requirements:

  • BS/MS in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • 10 years of professional experience architecting, developing, and launching software products and/or services.
  • 4 years of experience managing successful engineering teams including hiring and performance management.
  • Experienced with Graph QL
  • Experienced with AWS, Kubernetes, & Microservices architecture.
  • MySQL and Kafka experience are a plus.
  • JavaScript engineer with experience working on high volume distributed systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience managing a team of software engineers.
  • Familiarity managing and developing/distributing software

Key Technical Languages/Skills
Java (Android SDK + Eclipse + Android Studio), Ruby on Rails (REST API’s), SQL, React, Redux, AWS, Git, Test automation
